The Tablet Mode is a feature in the MERGEPORT Controller that allows incoming orders to be reviewed and accepted manually, instead of being sent directly to the POS system.

When enabled, orders are displayed in the order overview within the Controller, where users can manually accept, adjust, and process them. This feature is especially useful for POS systems that do not support dynamic delivery time adjustments, or for setups where the order workflow should be managed directly within MERGEPORT.

How does the Tablet Mode work?

When the Tablet Mode is enabled:

  • New orders appear in the order overview of the MERGEPORT Controller.
  • Orders are accepted manually by the user (e.g., by clicking "Accept").
  • During acceptance, the delivery/preparation time can be selected.
  • The selected delivery time is then sent to the POS system automatically.
  • The POS receives only the final, confirmed order with the finalized timing.

This allows the POS to focus on receipt and invoicing, while MERGEPORT handles the order interface and timing management.

Where to find the Tablet Mode

Tablet Mode can be activated in the restaurant configuration inside the MERGEPORT Controller:

  1. Log in to controller.mergeport.com.
  2. Select the relevant restaurant.
  3. Open Configuration → Advanced settings.
  4. Enable the Tablet Mode toggle.

How to use it in daily operations

The interface can be opened in any modern web browser — perfect for use on a tablet device in the kitchen or counter area.

To use it:

  1. Grant access to the Controller for the responsible restaurant staff.
  2. Open controller.mergeport.com on the tablet.
  3. When a new order arrives, an audio notification (bell sound) will play.
  4. Orders can be accepted, managed, or completed directly from the order overview.

Important Note

The Tablet Mode only affects the internal order flow within MERGEPORT. It has no connection to the tablet settings of the individual ordering platforms (such as Wolt or Lieferando). Those settings remain separate and unaffected.

When should you use Tablet Mode?

Tablet Mode is particularly useful for:

  • POS systems without native, dynamic delivery time adjustments.
  • Restaurants that want to manage orders centrally via the Controller interface.
  • Scenarios where the POS should focus on order processing and printing only.
  • Demo or test environments to simulate the full order workflow.

Benefits at a Glance

  • Manual control over order acceptance and delivery times.
  • No direct, automated API order injection without approval.
  • Works on any browser and device.
  • Audio notifications for incoming orders.
  • Reduces POS integration complexity by delegating order handling to MERGEPORT.
